Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) affects millions of people in the United States, yet to many, it is considered a disease that primarily affects children. As a health care provider, it is important to understand that T1DM can occur at any age, and the initial diagnosis is sometimes made only after an episode of diabetic ketoacidosis. This educational program has been created to facilitate the appropriate diagnosis and management of Type 1 diabetes by health care providers in primary care or inpatient settings.
